Chapati

If we have ever tried out Indian food, then we are sure to have it tried even for once. It is famous, especially in the North Indian region. The whole wheat flour is kneaded with warm water into a soft dough. The little dumplings taken out from the dough are flattened and then heated on the flat skillet which is known as the Tawa in Hindi.

Makki Roti

The hero ingredient of the dish can be guessed from the name itself.

Note:

All the North Indian restaurants in Kirkland do serve this item as people are mad for it.

It is made from Makki which is corn. Because of that, the eventual roti comes out to be in yellow. It is famous to be served along with Sarson-Ka-Saag.

If you do not want to cook the Sarson-Ka-Saag, but surely wanna eat the Makki roti. Then there is a way. Prepare a dough of Makki-ka-atta and the fenugreek leaves. Here to flatten the roti, you need butter paper. Put the dumpling on that and gently press it with your palms and keep on circulating the paper to make sure the roti comes out to be rolling.

Akki Roti

It is one of the most famous dishes of Karnataka. By akki we mean rice. It indicates that the roti is made with rice. Regardless of its name, it does include the flavours of different kinds of vegetables and spices. The akki roti tastes extremely better when it is served with chutney.

Thalipeeth Roti

This is one kind of Maharashtrian chapati that is cooked with two predominant ingredients – Bajra and Jowar. Apart from the flour, it does include the following flavour-enhancing innards:

  • Rice

  • Spices

To make it utmostly nutritious and healthy, you are suggested to include different kinds of vegetables in it as well. When cooked, serve hot and enjoy it with either yoghurt or ghee.

  • Red Chilli Powder

  • Black Pepper

  • Cumin seeds

  • Roasted and crushed carom seeds

  • Turmeric powder

You can enjoy this roti on its own with ghee or you can enjoy it with yoghurt and vegetables.
